The Carters Take on The Wild West Part 4

We said farewell to Jackson and set out for what I knew would be my favorite part of the trip: visiting my parents in Cody! They are seasoned Yellowstone travelers, full of exciting and sometimes scary stories.

The journey from Jackson to Cody via Yellowstone's south entrance was a breathtaking scenic 296-mile drive. Every turn revealed something spectacular: towering mountains, deep canyons, and snow-capped peaks. I did subject Andy to a few marriage podcasts, but honestly, it was hard to focus on anything but the stunning beauty around us.

And we finally saw buffalo! I can't imagine running into one of these!

As we got closer to Cody, the weather warmed up, and the canyon ranges were truly magnificent.

The highlight of the day was reuniting with Mom and Dad. They had driven 1,800 miles in their big Ford truck, towing a camper behind them. Wow! I can’t even imagine the endurance that took. And they didn’t even listen to any marriage podcasts along the way.

We had a wonderful picnic together, catching up on our adventures and enjoying each other's company as we decided what to do for dinner.

We checked into our next hotel, the Best Western Premier Ivy Inn and Suites. After the long drive, the cozy beds were a welcome sight, and we took advantage of the extra hours to grab a much-needed nap.

For dinner, we headed to a local spot, Granny's Kitchen. While the food wasn't particularly memorable, the company more than made up for it. We spent the evening planning our adventures for the next day, eager to explore more of what this beautiful region has to offer.

As we drifted off to sleep that night, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the incredible experiences and beautiful sights we had seen so far. Tomorrow promises even more adventures, and we can’t wait to share them with you!
